To say the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show was a big one for Perdomo Cigars was an understatement. Two years ago, Perdomo had what was arguably one of the biggest and most successful launches in recent memory with the Perdomo 30th Anniversary. It would seem that topping the buzz around Perdomo 30th would be a challenge. In this case, the launch of the Perdomo Legacy might have surpassed it.
Perdomo Cigars kept the packaging of the Legacy under wraps until the Trade Show door opened. In fact, when it came to setup day (the day before the Trade Show opened), it was my understanding that the cigars were still not on display. On the morning of Day One when the Trade Show doors opened, a large crowd gathered, and the Perdomo Legacy was on display for the world to see.
There are two key points when it comes to the Perdomo Legacy. First up, this was a project spearheaded by Nicholas Perdomo III to honor his father, Nick Perdomo. Second, the story of this blend centers on the tobacco, as it utilizes a hybrid Shade Grown wrapper.
The Next Generation
From speaking with Nicholas over the past few weeks, and at this year’s Trade Show, it is very clear that Nicholas has been involved with every facet of the Legacy project, from seed to getting the cigars to the stores. He was clearly passionate about what he was doing. Additionally, you can see that he had the full support of his family, particularly the man the Legacy is dedicated to, Nick Perdomo.
The Shade Grown Hybrid Tobacco
The tobacco is a significant story with the Perdomo Legacy, which utilizes a proprietary Shade Grown Hybrid seed. The tobacco plant is grown from seeds that hybridize both Cuban and Cameroonian seeds. It was used as the wrapper on the Perdomo Legacy Shade Grown. Additionally, the Shade Grown Hybrid wrapper was used as the binder for the Legacy Maduro and Legacy Connecticut. Except for the wrapper on the Connecticut, all of the tobaccos in the Legacy line are grown on the Perdomo farms.
I had an opportunity to smoke the Perdomo Legacy Shade Grown, and it was a standout cigar from PCA 2025. It’s very different from any Perdomo I’ve had, and it definitely will be well received.
The packaging also really stood out. It features Perdomo packaging DNA with the logo and medallions, but the beveled box takes it to the next level.
