General Cigar has announced the launch of Hoyo de Monterrey Shade. In 2024, General Cigar began revamping its Hoyo de Monterrey core line with the release of the Hoyo de Monterrey Oscuro and Hoyo de Monterrey Rojo. As the name indicates, the Hoyo de Monterrey Shade introduces a Honduran-grown shade-wrapped offering into the core line.
In a press release, Scott Abney, Brand Manager for Hoyo de Monterrey, said, “Hoyo Shade is the perfect follow-up to last year’s releases, Rojo and Oscuro. Given Hoyo’s reputation for crafting excellent shade cigars, we knew we had to set a high standard for Shade, and I’m pleased to say we’ve met it. Add to that a more-than-approachable price point, and I’m confident that Hoyo Shade will quickly become a fan favorite.”
The Shade comes out of STG’s HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras. In addition to the Honduran shade-grown wrapper, the Hoyo Shade features 100% Honduran-grown tobaccos.
Presented in ten-count boxes, both blends come in the same three sizes as the Rojo and Oscuro. Pricing for the Shade ranges from $5.99 to $8.49.
The Shade will ship to retailers the first week of June 2.
