On April 13, 2025, the Coalition team visited Crux Cigars at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. April 13th is a significant day to Cigar Coop because that is when Casey Haugen, Vice President of Crux Cigars, was the first guest on the Prime Time Show in 2017. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to interview Casey because the booth was slammed, but we were able to talk to company president Jeff Haugen about the new happenings in April.
The new releases include the Crux Marblehead and the return of the Crux Passport. Jeff Haugen discussed both of these lines with us at PCA 2024. Last year, Haugen mentioned the Crux Astorias, a product planned for the company’s tenth anniversary in 2014. Although the Astorias were not on display this year, Haugen noted that the project is still under development, but is not yet where he wants it to be.
Crux was one of the booths that featured the Masters Golf tournament. They had a large television broadcasting the game, but I noticed that most of the crowd was focused on conducting business in the Crux booth. The Masters served as a pleasant backdrop to their activities..
Crux Marblehead
The Crux Marblehead is a new line that features Crux’s spin on the Cuban 109 cap. It features a tapered head and a bullet-style flat cap. Crux first used it on the Bull & Bear Marblehead vitola. Now the company is introducing a full line using the Marblehead cap.
Marblehead is also being positioned as a value-priced line in the $7.99 to $8.99 range. The blend features an Ecuadorian Colorado Habano wrapper with Nicaraguan and Indonesian binders and fillers. It comes in two sizes: Toro (6 x 50, SRP $7.99/cigar) and Gordo (6 x 60, SRP $8.99) per cigar. Each vitola ships in a 60-count tray with five-count and 20-count refill options. It also sells in acrylic boxes instead of soft-pack cardboard boxes.
Crux Passport
Additionally, Crux Passport is back. This was one of Crux’s earliest lines, and it was discontinued. Passport returns with what Haugen says is an “elevated” blend. It consists of an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Nicaraguan and Honduran binder and fillers. It will come in three sizes:
- Super Selection No. 1: 6 x 42 – MSRP $10.99
- Super Selection No. 2: 5 1/2 x 46 – MSRP $11.99
- Super Selection No. 3: 6. 1/4 x 48 – MSRP $12.99
Passport comes in 20-count boxes that feature two five-packs and ten singles. In addition, refill bricks are available.
