#14: 262 Revere |
The selection for #14 Cigar on the 2012 Cigar of the Year Countdown is the 262 Revere. The Revere is a cigar that was launched by Clint Aaron’s 262 Cigars at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show. 262 Cigars was one of our five “Boutiques to Watch” prior to the trade show. Without a doubt, Aaron delivered the goods with this release.
262 Cigars has been knocking on the door for the past couple of years. In 2010, the 262 Paradigm was an Honorable Mention on our Cigar of the Year countdown. Last year, the follow-up to the Paradigm, the 262 Ideology finished as our #2 Aged Blend for 2011. Earlier this year, a new Paradigm lancero line extension scored a 95 in our assessment ratings. Now the Revere marks the first time Aaron has landed a spot in the countdown. 262 marks the sixth new company to make its first appearance on a Cigar Coop countdown joining Alec Bradley, Nat Sherman, La Flor Dominicana, CLE, and Primer Mundo.
The Revere is the first all-Nicaraguan puro made by 262 Cigars. It is made at the Plasencia factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. When we scored the Revere, we commented: “The Revere doesn’t try to re-invent what a good Nicaraguan puro should taste like, it just delivers a cigar with great flavor.” The flavors on this cigar are pepper, coffee, cream, natural tobacco, wood, and citrus. The flavor notes are medium to full-bodied and are balanced medium to full strength. The construction is outstanding – yielding an excellent burn and draw.
