Last week, we noted a report on a second blend being added to the Partagas 1845 line called the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte. Since then, another cigar has popped up on internet and catalog sites called the Partagas 1845 Oscuro. The 3/5/14 Cigar Insider has now confirmed the release of this cigar. This also confirmed the Partagas 1845 Oscuro will be an internet/catalog release.
While the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte will have a similar profile to the original Partagas 1845 Heritage, the Oscuro will have a completely different profile.
While the Partagas 1845 Oscuro will be an exclusive to online/catalog retailers, the new Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte will be an exclusive to brick and mortar shops. General Cigar has used this strategy with its La Gloria Cubana and Foundry lines already.
In a press release announcing both of the Partagas 1845 Extra Oscuro and Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte, Alan Willner, vice president of marketing for General Cigar explains, “These new collections enhance the taste spectrum of Partagas 1845 which is one of the best-selling blends in our portfolio. We anticipate that the appeal of these new Partagas 1845 cigars will be shared equally among those who favor the heritage and craftsmanship of classic brands, and those who seek to expand their smoking repertoires with exciting new tastes.”
The cigars will be packaged similar to the original Partagas 1845 Heritage.
