“When looking at the Aniversario, there is no doubt that Casa Fernandez has brought a winner to the retailers… While it is a classic Nicaraguan puro in a lot of ways, it also delivers so much more in terms of flavor nuances as you smoke it.”

Coming in at #6 is the Casa Fernandez Aniversario Boheme No. 35.  This was the Casa Fernandez’s Aniversario series made for the 35th Anniversary of Tabacalera Tropical.  The cigar was a late 2013 release thus qualifying for this year’s countdown.  The inclusion of the Boheme brings the total number of Nicaraguan puros on this year’s countdown to eight.  The Boheme comes from Casa Fernandez’s Miami factory becoming the third cigar to come out of that facility and the fourth U.S. made cigar overall.  It also gives Casa Fernandez factories (U.S. and Nicaragua) a leading six cigars on the countdown.  Casa Fernandez branded cigars have two top ten cigars for 2014, and the #6 now becomes the highest placement ever for the company on our Countdowns.

The Boheme was the first true limited run cigar by Casa Fernandez.  Later in 2014, Casa Fernandez released its second Aniversario – the Casa Fernandez Aniversario Serie 2014 Ares which was the other cigar in the top ten as it came in at #9.  The blends and sizes for both Aniversario cigars are different, but share a common bond as they leverage the company’s renowned Aganorsa farm tobaccos.

The Boheme is a 6 x 54 box-press and this is a cigar that has continually gotten better throughout the year. This cigar delivers a flavor profile of earth, black pepper, dried fruit, and cocoa.  I found a wonderful synergy between these flavors throughout the smoke.   It delivers a full-bodied smoke countered by some medium to full strength.

While the Boheme was originally assessed as a box worthy, this cigar has now progressed to our “Chuck Norris” level and just continues to get better over time.  At press time you can find these cigars, and we would advise getting them before inventories are depleted.
