Three of Drew Estate’s most limited edition cigars in its Liga Privada brand are returning. Today the company announced that the Liga Privada No. 9 Flying Pig, Liga Privada T52 Flying Pig, and the Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat will be available for Drew Estate’s Drew Diplomat retailers. Plans are for all three cigars to be showcased at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show.
The Liga Privada No. 9 Flying Pig was a 4 1/2 x 60 perfecto-like cigar that last hit the market in 2009. The blend features a “tweaked blend” of the original Liga Privada No. 9 blend which consists of a Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut Broadleaf Wrapper, a Plantation Grown Brazilian Mata Fina Binder, with filler from Honduras and Nicaragua.
The Liga Privada T52 Flying Pig was also a 4 1/2 x 60 perfecto-like cigar that last hit the market in 2010. Like the No. 9 Flying Pig, it features a tweaked blend of the original T52 blend – consisting of a Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut & Cured Sun Grown Habano Wrapper, a Plantation Grown Brazilian Mata Fina Binder, with Filler from Honduras and Nicaragua.
The No. 9 and T52 Flying Pigs will have a total production of 4,000 boxes of 12 cigars – for which Drew Estate says is the largest allotment to date of those cigars. The original No. 9 Flying Pig release was 2,000 boxes while the original T52 Flying Pig release was 3,000 boxes.
The Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat is a 6 1/2 x 46, features a Connecticut Broadleaf “High” Mediums Wrapper, Plantation Grown Brazilian Mata Fina Binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras. It has been released in extremely limited runs to TESA Cigars, the 2015 Connecticut River Valley Barnsmoker Event, and as a Drew Diplomat Event Cigar. The cigar is difficult to make because of the fan tail cap. Production numbers were not disclosed, but the Velvet Rat will be available in 10 count boxes.
On the announcement of these limited cigars hitting the market, Drew Estate co-founder Jonathan Drew stated, “It is finally time to bring Liga Privada No.9 Flying Pigs and T52 Flying Pigs, as well as those luxurious Velvet Rats to Drew Diplomat Retailers throughout the U.S. It’s important that Drew Diplomats are able to snag these little gems, although we are only going to release them in stages for production purposes, as they are difficult to construct. Liga Privada Flying Pigs – put some respect on my name.”
