Brand Appearances on Countdown: 4 (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)
Coming in at #20 is the Davidoff Scorecard Edition 2016. This 2016 was the third limited edition golf-themed cigar made by Davidoff.
The Davidoff Scorecard Edition 2016 gives Davidoff a slot on the Cigar Coop Cigar of the Year Countdown for the fourth consecutive year. While Davidoff also released limited edition golf-themed cigars in 2013 and 2015, this marks the first these releases to qualify of the countdown.
The blend to the Davidoff Scorecard Edition consists of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Dominican binder and fillers. The cigar was made in one size – a 6 x 55 Gran Toro. The cigar was sold in five packs. In each of the packs is a cigar that features a special gold-colored secondary band. The gold-banded cigar is the same blend, but is meant to be given out to the winner of a round of golf.
The tasting notes of the Davidoff Scorecard Edition 2016 include natural tobacco, mixed fruit, black pepper, hay, as well as subtle notes of honey and salt. The strength and body of this cigar is mostly medium, but toward the end these attributes have a slight uptick to medium to full.
Perhaps the only drawback with this cigar is that it is too good to enjoy while being preoccupied with a game of golf. It’s much better suited after the game of golf is other. That won’t cause a loss of points here as this was a “hole in one” by Davidoff.
