At the 2018 IPCPR Trade Show, Emilio Cigars showcased a new maduro addition to its Grimalkin line. This week, the cigar dubbed the Emilio Grimalkin Halloween Edition is heading to select retailers.
The Emilio Grimalkin Halloween Edition is available in one size – a 5 x 50 Robusto. It is presented in 25-count boxes with each cigar priced at $9.75. The cigar itself is a Nicaraguan puro highlighted by a maduro wrapper.
Earlier this year, Emilio Cigars announced it was bringing back the Grimalkin, an old brand in its portfolio. Grimalkin first hit the market in 2011. The cigar was a Nicaraguan puro that was widely believed to have been produced at the My Father Cigars factory. Early in 2012, the Grimalkin was rebranded into a new line of the Emilio portfolio called La Musa, and the blend would become a specific offering in that line called La Musa Mousa. At the time former Emilio brand developer Gary Griffith had said the band’s signature “cat eyes” drew criticism from the marketplace – although it was also widely speculated the change was made to avoid a potential trademark conflict.
Production for the 2018 edition of the Grimalkin was moved to Fabrica Oveja Negra, the operation run by James Brown. Brown also owns the Black Label Trading Company and Black Works Studio brands which, like Emilio, are all distributed by Boutiques Unified.
The Grimalkin Halloween Edition is the first new installment under the Grimalkin name since the return. Like the regular Grimalkin offering, the Halloween Edition is also produced at Fabrica Oveja Negra.
Production of the Emilio Grimalkin Halloween Edition is described as being in limited quantities.
