The year 2019 was fairly quiet in terms of product releases for Enrique Sanchez Icaza and Global Premium Cigars. There had been a few product releases earlier this year with the 1502 XO Robusto Gordo and 1502 Sapphire Lancero, when it came to the 2019 IPCPR Trade Show; there wasn’t a new product being showcased, but rather a re-introduction of two releases.
This year saw the return of the first size of the 1502 XO line, the Toro. The 1502 XO Toro made its debut at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show and was released the following year. Since then different sizes of the XO were released in small batches, but the Toro size had not returned until now. It’s the same 6 x 52 box-pressed Toro highlighted by the incorporation of 18-year-old tobacco in an undisclosed blend. It’s the first re-release of one of the sizes of the 1502 XO line.
Last year saw Global Premium Cigars release a new brand called Cachitos. This year Sanchez said the cigar is returning again after a short hiatus. Cachitos is a value-priced line that comes in one size – a 4 1/2 x 50 petite robusto. The blend consists of a Nicaraguan wrapper over a Honduran binder and a combination of Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers.
