Appearances on Countdown (By Year/Brand): 4 (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)

Coming in at #4 is the Aladino Corojo Reserva Toro by JRE Tobacco Co. This was a line extension to the Aladino Corojo Reserva Robusto, a cigar that was released by JRE in 2019 and went on to capture the #1 Cigar of the Year on Cigar Coop for 2018.

The Aladino Corojo Reserva builds on the theme of the original Aladino. It also uses 100% Authentic Corojo, but it incorporates a Corona priming into the blend. This makes the Aladino Corojo Reserva a bolder offering. The new Toro size comes in a 52 x 6 format. It is made at Julio Eiroa’s Las Lomas factory in Honduras. JRE describes this as a limited production release.

The Aladino Corojo Reserva Toro gives JRE Tobacco Company a second cigar on the 2019 Countdown. At the time this selection was unveiled, JRE Tobacco is only the second company to place two cigars on the Countdown. 2019 is the fourth consecutive year JRE has landed on the Countdown.

Flavorwise, the Aladino Corojo Reserva Toro delivers notes of coffee, wood, natural tobacco, fruit, and assorted pepper. The flavors are bold and full-bodied. This is countered by medium to full strength in the first two thirds – progressing to full strength in the last third.

The Aladino Corojo Reserva Toro shows what a slight change to ring gauge and length can do with a cigar. In this case, it “softens” the flavors delivered, yet remains bold from start to finish. This is a great line extension to an epic line – and it earns the #4 spot on the 2019 Countdown.
