Review: Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed Sun Grown Regente (9/13/20)
Appearances on Countdown (By Year/Brand): 1 (2020)
Coming in at #11 is the Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed Sun Grown Regente. In 2019, Perdomo Cigars re-introduced its Estate Selección Vintage (ESV) line. The ESV line utilizes the top 5% of the tobaccos grown on the Perdomo family’s Finca Natalie farm in Estéli, Nicaragua and is an all-box pressed offering. Like most Perdomo Cigars, Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed has Connecticut, Maduro, and Sungrown options. It’s the Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed Sungrown that lands on the Countdown in the Regente (5 x 54 Robusto) size.
The Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed Sungrown features 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos including the tobaccos coming from Finca Natalie. The cigar is highlighted by a beautiful Sun Grown wrapper. Production is also handled in Estelí, Nicaragua out of Tabacalera Perdomo.
The Perdomo Estate Selección Vintage Limited Edition Box-Pressed Sungrown Regente shines in the flavor department. There are some excellent natural tobacco flavors that deliver both sweet and tangy. The remainder of the flavor profile is rounded out with notes of earth, nut, mixed fruit, and black pepper. This is a cigar that starts out medium in strength and body before progressing to medium to full for both attributes for the remainder of the smoke.
In addition to keeping to the definition of a flavor bomb, this is one of the best balanced Nicaraguan puros that has been released in the past few years.
