Crowned Heads is marking its 10th anniversary of its annual limited edition series, Las Calaveras. To commemorate the milestone, Crowned Heads is releasing two cigars. First is the annual Las Calaveras release, the Las Calaveras Edición Limitada (EL) 2024. In addition, there will also be a special LLas Calaveras release known as Decimo Aniversario.
Initially launched in 2014, Las Calaveras pays homage to those who have passed away over the past year. As opposed to being a mournful symbol, it is intended to celebrate the lives and remembrances of those who are no longer with us. As with most of the previous blends, the bands of each release of Las Calaveras have contained the initials of four deceased individuals.
The Las Calaveras EL 2024 features a Habano wrapper over a blend of 100% Garcia-grown Nicaragua tobaccos. It comes in three sizes: LC48 (6 × 48), LC52 (5 x 52), and LC54 (6 x 54). Production is limited to 1,500 24-count boxes of each size. Pricing ranges between $13.95 and $15.95 SRP/cigar.
There are also 3,000 4-cigar samplers featuring one of each vitola plus an exclusive Belicoso Fino sampler (5 1/2 x 52).
“When I smoked the final blend for this year’s Las Calaveras, it immediately took me back to the 2015 Las Calaveras profile, which happens to be one of my favorite blends in the series, commented Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber in a press release.
Las Calaveras Décimo Aniversario uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaragua Garcia-grown tobaccos. This cigar comes in one size—a 6 x 52 Toro. A total of 2,500 ten-count boxes were produced. The SRP is $18.95/cigar.
“Las Calaveras has had such a far-reaching impact upon the cigar community over the last decade,” added Huber, “that we felt it only fitting to recognize this milestone of the brand. Décimo is an amazing blend, and we’re so grateful to the Garcia family and My Father Cigars for partnering with us on this tribute, and also for what we’ve created together with the Las Calaveras brand.”
As with all installments of the Las Calaveras series, Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2024 and Las Calaveras Decimo Aniversario come out of the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
