Padrón Cigars is adding two new line extensions to its Padrón 1964 Anniversary series. The new sizes are box-pressed offerings – a 5 x 52 Soberano and the 6 x 50 Presidente. What is different about these line extensions is not only are they the first 1964 Anniversary Cigars to be packaged in tubes, but these tubes will be square-shaped.
Both the Soberano and Presidente are offered in Natural and Maduro wrappers – consistent with the blend found in the rest of the Padrón 1964 Anniversary line. The Soberano is priced at $14.50 while the Presidente is priced at $15.50. Both new sizes will be packaged in 15 count boxes.
Last year, Padrón introduced the Padrón 1926 Serie 90th Anniversary. The 90th Anniversary marked the first Padrón frontmarks to feature Tubo packaging, but those were traditional rounded tubes. The new Soberano and Presidente use the square aluminum tube format to support the box-pressed shape of the cigar.
The new sizes and square tubes were formally unveiled last year at InterTabac 2016.
A few weeks ago, Avo Cigars unveiled a square tubo offering in its Avo Syncro Nicaragua line.
