The wait is over. This past week, Gran Habano Cigars announced details about its long-awaited 20th-anniversary cigar, the Gran Habano 20th Aniversario. The cigar will officially launch at the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.

Details of the 20th Aniversario project first surfaced in 2020, but delays (mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic) pushed the project back for two years. The cigar features a Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper grown in the Jalapa Valley that has been aged for four years. This surrounds a Nicaraguan binder and a combination of fillers from Colombia, Nicaragua, and Peru. The cigar has been aging for four years.

Three initial sizes have been announced by Gran Habano: El Sueño (a Robusto which translates to “The Dream”), El Desafio (a Toro which translates to “The Struggle”), and El Triunfo (a 6 x 60 which translates to “The Success”). Each is presented in 20-count boxes. The 20th Aniversario is a limited-production release with 4,000 boxes of each size made and released each quarter. The cigars are allocated to only 200 retailers.

The vitola names represent the dreams, struggles, and successes the company has had during its first 20 years.

“It is with great pride that after 27 years in business as a company, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our brand, Gran Habano. It is a wonderful feeling to reach this special milestone as a brand, as we will continue to maintain our culture as a company by following our principals [sic] to pursue making quality cigars. We look forward to the next chapter in our family’s journey, and to the new generations continuing the family tradition that has allowed four previous generations to be successful in the industry of tobacco,” commented company owner George Rico in a press release.

The PCA Trade Show opens July 9, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
