The 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show would be the second one for Freud Cigar Company. Freud Cigar Company is the main brand from Agape Lifestyle Inc, a company started by Luis Torres and David Stadnyk. The Freud brand pays homage to Dr. Sigmund Freud who is considered the father of psychoanalysis, but also a famous cigar enthusiast. Just prior to the 2023 PCA Trade Show, Freud Cigar Company would launch what is planned to be an annual limited edition line under the name Sigmund. In addition, there is a new brand being launched completely different than the Freud theme known as Carlos & Maria.
The first installment to the Sigmund series is called Sigmund Chapter One – The Disruptor. The details of the Chapter One blend have not been disclosed. Sigmund Chapter One – The Disruptor was blended by Eladio Diaz at his Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera factory, which is one of Freud Cigar Company’s manufacturing partners. The blend has seven different tobaccos, including five different filler tobaccos. The cigar is a 7 1/2 x 50 Double Corona. A total of 3,500 numbered ten-count boxes were produced. Pricing is set at $42.00 SRP per cigar.
As for Carlos & Maria, I’ll assume this brand belongs under Agape even though it was showcased under the umbrella of the Freud booth. The first release for Carlos & Maria is called Amorío. The brand has a theme of romance and seems quite different from the psychoanalysis branding of Freud.
Carlos & Maria Amorío is produced at Tabacalera William Ventura and blended by Wiber Ventura (who blended the Freud Superego). It’s a blend that consists of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Indonesian Sumatra binder, and a combination of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Ecuadorian fillers. The cigars come in four sizes: Robusto (50 x 5), Corona Gorda (46 x 5 1/2), Toro (54 x 6), and Churchill (48 x 7). Each is presented in ten-count boxes. Pricing ranges from $17.00 SRP to $23.00 SRP per cigar.
