Coming in at #7 on the 2024 Cigar of the Year Countdown is the Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure.

The Perdomo 30th Anniversary line was easily one of the most anticipated cigar lines to hit the market in recent memory. It’s hard to believe that about 18 months ago, the world first got a look at the Perdomo 30th Anniversary line at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show. In fact, when it came to the final packaging, Perdomo’s Arthur Kemper and Nicholas Perdomo III kept the design under wraps from CEO Nick Perdomo until the night before the Trade Show. A few months later, Perdomo would ship its 30th anniversary to retailers.

The Perdomo 30th Anniversary comes in three wrappers: Sun Grown, Maduro, and Connecticut. The Sun Grown landed #22 on the Countdown, and now the Connecticut comes in at #7. The cigar is highlighted by a 15-year-old Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper aged in bourbon barrels. The remainder of the blend features 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos grown on the Perdomo family farms in Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa. The Epicure is a staple size of the Perdomo portfolio, measuring 6 x 54. Production comes out of Tabacalera Perdomo in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The 30th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure delivered notes of cream, cedar, earth, berry, pepper, and a unique chestnut note. The cigar started mild to medium in strength and body, but by the second half, both attributes moved into medium territory.

As mentioned, this is the second Perdomo 30th to land on this year’s Countdown. Perdomo has landed a cigar on the Cigar Coop Countdown four different times. Meanwhile, as far as the 2024 Countdown goes, Nicaragua leads the way with 13 of the 24 cigars.
