The Details

The Aladino Limited Edition by JRE Tobacco Co. 2023 edition is ranked 12th on the 2024 Cigar of the Year Countdown.

Since Julio and Justo Eiroa launched JRE in 2016, much of the focus has been on building up the regular product offerings in its portfolio. This is a limited-edition offering, as indicated by the name. The Aladino Limited Edition was created while JRE was developing the soon-to-be-released Julio R. Eiroa birthday cigar. The Aladino Limited Edition debuted at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, and at the time, it sounded like this would be a one-and-done release. However, with the success of the 2023 release, the Aladino Limited Edition made a return for 2024 with the same blend.

One of the big innovations from the JRE Tobacco Farm in Honduras was the use of tobacco grown with Cameroon seed. In 2020, this Honduran-grown Cameroon leaf was used as a wrapper on the Aladino Cameroon, and the Aladino Limited Edition also uses this wrapper. At the 2024 PCA Trade Show, JRE showcased the Aladino Cameroon Reserva, the first Cameroon puro to feature 100% Honduran-grown Cameroon.

The Aladino Limited Edition delivered notes of cocoa, natural tobacco, cedar, wood, and pepper. The flavors were medium-bodied, countered by mild to medium strength. While this is not a powerhouse smoke, the strength and body mesh well with the flavors delivered.

For JRE Tobacco Co, this marks the second cigar from that company to land on the Countdown. Earlier on the Countdown, the Aladino Sumatra was placed at #26. Since its inception, JRE has landed at least one cigar on seven different Countdowns. This is also the third cigar made in Honduras to land on the 2024 Cigar of the Year Countdown.
