Back in 2014, the Macanudo brand launched a new line of cigars to the European market called the Macanudo Inspirado This was followed up a year later by a maduro counterpart called the Macanudo Inspirado Black. Now General Cigar has brought these lines to the U.S. market where they will become regular offerings under the Macanudo brand.
For the U.S. market, General will take a go to market strategy similar to what has been done with offerings under La Gloria Cubana and the Partagas 1945 line – namely segmenting the line to have brick and mortar and online catalog exclusive offerings. The Macanudo Inspirado, which is being dubbed Macanudo Inspirado Orange will be an exclusive to brick and mortar shops. Meanwhile the Macanudo Black will be an exclusive to online catalogs.
“The launch of Macanudo Inspirado marks another exciting milestone for this iconic brand,” said Alan Willner, vice president of marketing in a press release. By bringing this global brand extension stateside, we are continuing to evolve Macanudo by expanding the line with fuller-flavored offerings. We are confident that Macanudo Inspirado will be a welcome addition to the repertoires of tenured smokers who seek expertly blended, proprietary tobaccos from a variety of origins.”
The new cigars will adorn the new Macanudo logo and be consistent with the new Macanudo packaging that was introduced in 2016.
Another difference will be the sizes that will be released. Both blends will be available in identical vitola sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (5 3/4 x 52), Gigante (6 x 60), and Churchill (7 x 50). This differs from the European offerings where the Macanudo Inspirado Orange has seven sizes, and the Macanudo Inspirado Black has two sizes. For the Macanudo Inspirado Orange, the Churchill is a new size for the U.S. market. Meanwhile the Macanudo Inspirado Black adds the Churchill and Robusto sizes.
Both cigars are packaged in 20 count boxes.
