Review: Mi Querida Ancho Largo by Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust
Brand Appearances on Countdown: 1 (2015, 2016)
Coming in at #6 is the Mi Querida Ancho Largo by Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. Mi Querida is the second regular production line by Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust company. Mi Querida was met with a lot of anticipation in that this would be Saka’s first Connecticut Broadleaf release at Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. Many people connect Saka with Connecticut Broadleaf because of the Liga Privada No. 9, the cigar that started out as Saka’s personal blend while he was at Drew Estate.
This is the second cigar by Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust on the 2016 Cigar Coop Countdown joining the Sobremesa Short Churchill. This is the second Connecticut Broadleaf cigar to make this year’s countdown. Up until this point, Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust is the third company to place multiple cigars on the 2016 Countdown.
The Ancho Largo is a classic 6 x 52 Toro. In addition to a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, the remainder of the blend consists of all Nicaraguan tobacco. While Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust’s other line Sobremesa is made at Joya de Nicaragua, Mi Querida is produced at the NACSA factory out of Nicaragua.
The Mi Querida Ancho Largo’s flavor profile includes notes of earth, cocoa, natural tobacco, mixed fruit, and red pepper. The earth notes had a musty quality that contributed positively to the flavor profile. It gives the cigar a “dirty, gritty” feel to it – yet at the same time there was a slight creamy texture that helped deliver a small amount of smoothness. Both the strength and body started out in the medium range. The strength ramps up to medium to full in the second half while the body ramps put to medium to full by the second third.
Overall this cigar ranks as one of 2016 best Connecticut Broadleaf offerings. A definite Chuck Norris cigar for sure.

I think the price is wrong. Did you mean $9.50? The cigar is fantastic though.

I am enjoying your countdown. Is part of the review missing? Your last paragraph was about PG not Dumbarton.

Thank you. A refresh should clear that up. We had that problem earlier.

Thank you. If you see anything out of whack, please refresh. There was an old draft lingering around. If you still see something out of whack, let me know.
Thanks again everyone!

I have yet to see these cigars in any store I frequent or even visit. One in Nashville had the mother load of rarities but not these?! Oh well…definitely think at that rarity rate TAA stuff should be considered.
