Macanudo has announced its second limited edition blend in its Macanudo Inspirado series, the Macanudo Inspirado Jamao. It’s a cigar that incorporates a wrapper grown in the Dominican Republic’s Mao region using a Habano seed varietal that originated in the Jamastran region of Honduras.

“For this limited edition expression of Macanudo Inspirado, we acclimated a Habano seed varietal from Jamastran, Honduras to Mao, DR and ultimately produced a beautiful wrapper. To honor the many people who worked hard to produce this wrapper for the first time, we named the release ‘Jamao’ which represents the blending of Jamastran and Mao,” said Jhonys Diaz, General Cigar’s senior vice president of leaf operations in a press release.

In addition to the proprietary wrapper, the Macanudo Inspirado Jamao also features a Honduran binder and fillers from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. It will be released in two sizes (Toro and Churchill) – each presented in 20-count boxes. A total of 2,300 boxes are being released for the U.S. market. Production comes from General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

The Macanudo Inspirado Series is a series of cigars under General Cigar Company’s Macanudo brand that brings a contemporary look and feel. It also serves as an innovation platform for the Macanudo brand – incorporating things the brand hasn’t seen before.

The Macanudo Inspirado line was originally launched in Europe in 2014. It wasn’t until 2016 that the line was introduced to the U.S. market. The Macanudo Inspirado Jamao is the eighth Inspirado release and joins the Macanudo Inspirado Palladium as a limited production release in the series.  Below is a list of the Macanudo Inspirado releases.
