While it was released prior to the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, the all-new Torano Vault line was showcased by General Cigar Company at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show.
Torano Vault was a line launched by Torano Family Cigars in 2011 under the “Blends from the Vault” moniker. The story behind this line actually dates back to 1982 when Carlos Torano started a cigar blend book that logged all of the blends since 1982 worked on by company. This book was literally kept under lock and key in a safety deposit box (i.e. “Vault”). The purpose of “Blends from the Vault” series was to revisit some of these blends, tweak them, and see if they can come to reality. Under Torano Family Cigars, there were three vault releases:Torano Vault A-008 , Torano Vault D-042, and Torano Vault VLE100.
Since acquiring the Torano brands, General Cigar has made a decision to carry forward this line and it recently introduced four new blends – two for brick and mortar and two for internet catalog. It was the brick and mortar blends that were showcased at IPCPR.
The names of each of the blends are the names from the blend book. While each of the releases are named for the blend number in the blend book, they are also named for the color of the packaging. The style of the packaging and banding has been the subject of some controversy. Each of the Torano Vault lines feature attention grabbing colors and horizontal brands. The criticism is due to the parallels that can arguably drawn with the way Camacho did its rebranding in 2013.
These new lines are as follows (For reference purposes we include the Internet / Catalog lines, but these were not showcased at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show.
Torano Vault P-044 (or Torano Vault Green, Brick and Mortar) – a Nicaraguan puro
