The Details

The #27 2023 Cigar of the Year is the Davidoff Limited Edition 2022. This marks a return for Davidoff to the Countdown for the first time in four years. While Davidoff has been focusing on bringing back a lot of its historic limited editions, the Davidoff Limited Edition 2022 Gran Toro is an all new LE. This igar is unique in that it it brings tobaccos from the Black Label’s three blends: Davidoff Nicaragua, Davidoff Escurio, and, Davidoff Yamasá.

Davidoff does not say which tobaccos in the Davidoff Limited Edition 2022 come from which of the core blends. It also does not say how much of the Davidoff Limited edition 2022 uses tobaccos outside of the core lines. The tobaccos come from four countries. The blend features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Brazilian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. The LE 2022 was released in one size – a 5 ½ x 58 Gran Toro. The bigger ring gauge allowed for more fillers to be incoporated into the blend. This was a large LE release with 13,500 12-count boxes released.

Davidoff Limited Edition 2022

The flavor profile of the isn’t quintessential Davidoff, but it is quite tasty – delivering notes of natural tobacco, fruit, caramel, earth and pepper. The flavors are medium-bodied countered by medium strength.

With Davidoff is returning to the Countdown, this is the tenth time Davidoff as a company has appeared on the Countdown. It’s also the second Dominican made cigar to land on the Countdown.
