In the ten-year battle with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the premium cigar industry just had its biggest week ever. This included
- The Appeals Court upheld Judge Mehta’s ruling, throwing out the Deeming Rule.
- Premium Cigars exempt from Nicotine Limits
- Flavored Cigar Bans, Nicotine Limits, and Tobacco Product Manufacturing Practice regulations tabled
While these look like victories, the premium cigar industry faces challenges regarding generational cigar bands locally and abroad. The FDA must also return to the drawing board on premium cigar regulations.
