Micallef Black Firecracker

United Cigars has announced the Micallef Black Firecracker and J.C. Newman Cameroon Firecracker as its Firecracker releases for 2024.

The Firecracker is a 3 1/2 x 50 that features a long fuse stemming from the cap. The series originated as a concept developed by David Garofalo exclusively for his Two Guys Smoke Shop establishments in order to commemorate Independence Day. The first Firecracker was by My Father Cigars, based on the Don Pepin Original Label. Later, the series morphed into an annual release with different manufacturers producing Firecrackers, including some regular production Firecracker offerings. Eventually, the series moved into Garofalo’s United Cigars distribution arm. This year, Micallef joins the list of manufacturers producing a Firecracker for United Cigars.

Micallef Black was the first installment of the Micallef Color Series. It features a Mexican San Andres wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Fabrica de Micallef in Estelí, Nicaragua, produces it. United Cigars says the cigars have been resting for ten months. The Micallef Black Firecracker comes in 20-count boxes. Pricing is $9.00 per cigar. The Micallef Black Firecracker is targeted to be released in time for the 4th of July, keeping with the Independence Day theme.

“Joining the ranks of legendary cigar makers to craft the Firecracker is both an honor and a testament to our commitment to excellence,” said Al Micallef, Founder of Micallef Cigars, in a press release. “This creation embodies the Micallef spirit of pushing boundaries while honoring our rich heritage.”

Alongside the Micallef Firecracker, the J.C. Newman Cameroon Firecracker was unveiled during the January 18th edition of The Cigar Authority Show. United Cigars has not yet issued a press release about the launch details. The Cameroon Firecracker celebrates 60 years of using Cameroon tobacco and is scheduled for release in autumn 2025.
