El Baton Cameroon Firecracker

United Cigars has announced details of J.C. Newman Cigar Company’s El Baton Cameroon Firecracker. On the January 18, 2025 edition of The Cigar Authority, United Cigars announced there would be an addition to its Firecracker series from J.C. Newman that would feature a Cameroon wrapper. The significance of this is to commemorate the 60th anniversary of when Stanford Newman started using Cameroon tobacco.

The Firecracker is a 3 1/2 x 50 that features a long fuse stemming from the cap. The series originated as a concept developed by David Garofalo exclusively for his Two Guys Smoke Shop establishments in order to commemorate Independence Day. The first Firecracker was by My Father Cigars, based on the Don Pepin Original Blue Label. Later, the series morphed into an annual release with different manufacturers producing Firecrackers, including some regular production Firecracker offerings. Eventually, the series moved into Garofalo’s United Cigars distribution arm.

While it will be branded under J.C. Newman’s El Baton brand, it will differ from the other vitolas in that it will use a Cameroon wrapper. It still will measure 3 1/2 x 50 and feature the long fuse affixed to the cap that many cigars in the Firecracker series are known for. The cigars will come in 20-count boxes with a total of 500 boxes produced. Each cigar is priced at $9.00 SRP.  Production comes from J.C. Newman’s Puros de Estelí Nicaragua, S.A. (PENSA) factory. The El Baton Cameroon Firecracker is due to hit stores in August 2025.
